In the first gold leaf event to be contested this year, The Harold Foreman Cup resulted in a runaway victory for Nicholas Mounsey whose nett 63 (83-20) saw him home clear of Ray Beadell (94-26=68), Andrew Nash (77-09=68 and Alan Johnson (94-26=68). Countback was needed to decide the Mid-Week medal as veteran Jim Shute (91-24=67) emerged the winner from Graham Jones (88-21=67) and Tony Hayes (89-21=68) in third place. The weekend single bogey competitions produced some good performances and Michael Flynn celebrated a fine win 3up from Neil Arends, Robin Fagg and David Buddle each finishing all square. New member Lawrence Schooley will soon be catching the handicapper’s attention by winning Saturday’s event 4 up from runner –up Mark Duguid (2 up) and club captain Frank Howroyd (1 up) in third place. The performance of the week however, was on Sunday when Tony Hayes just secured victory from Rod Hall on countback with both carding 5 up and third placed Andrew Nash (4 up).
