On Thursday Belfairs ladies were entertained by the Ladies Secretary Sue Meddle who had a sleepless night listening to the heavy rain and was wondering what would happen to her special day. Someone must have been watching over the ladies as the rain held off and it was a good day for golf. The main competition of the day was a 27 hole (18 in the morning and 9 after lunch) stroke play. The scoring was ok in the morning but one lady managed play to her handicap in the afternoon which many have been struggling to do this summer. The first three players were only a point a drift from each other and after last weeks disappointment it was good to see Kay Fagg in 1st place with a overall net score of 114, 2nd went to Alex Meddle with a overall net 115 and in 3rd place was Joan Smith with a overall net of 116. Scratch prize over the morning 18 holes went to Lena Lovett gross 97, 1st place over 18 holes Terri Hirons96 – 20 = 76, 2nd place Joan Howroyd 104 – 27 = 77, 3rd place Mandy Moir 107 – 27 = 80. other prizes include morning. 9 holes pm 1st Haxel Webber, 2nd Ruth Rickard, putting prizes over 18 holes Terri Hirons and Mandy Moir. Nearest the pin on 15th Lena Lovett and longest drive on 6th Ruth Rickard, Best par 5’s and par 3 both went to Joan Smith. Belfairs Ladies would like to thank the Lady Secretary for the lovely lunch she provided and Lena Lovett for the birthday cake she provided in the afternoon for tea to celebrate her special day.
