Belfairs GC were greeted with warm sunshine at the weekend as they held their Kindred Qualifiers.

The four pairs ho made it through to represent the club in the finals on 18th July hosted by Southend Golf Club were Mick Edmunds and Peter Mahoney (40 points), Luke Alden and Andrew Meddle (39 points), Mike Price and Graham Jones (38 points), and Alan Gribbon and Graeme Dale (36 points). Gribbon and Dale getting the final spot on countback from Ian Mudie and Nigel Warder.

Jon Watson produced the performance of the weekend as the 21 handicapper was in scorching form in the hot conditions posting a personal best gross 84 for a nett 63 to take Saturday’s medal. Watson earned a 3 shot cut for his efforts. Mick Edmunds (4) hit another consistent round with a nett 66 to take second spot while 13 handicapper Harry Smith was third with a tidy nett 67.

On Friday Peter Upton (10) and Graham Carter (19) both scored well with nett 69s and it was Upton’s better back nine who took the medal. Harry Burke (14) put in his usual solid display to card a nett 72 and take third spot.

Due to the Kindred Qualifier there was a much reduced field in Sunday’s Medal and Kevin Gough (10) held off the challenge of Matt Mahoney (4) on count back to take the medal.

In the Daily Foursomes Andrew Meddle and Peter Moir have made it through to the 5th Round as they saw off the Burnham challenge in convincing style 5 & 3.
