Belfairs top players contested the quarter finals of the Club Championship over the weekend.
The match between Jon Howley and Ray Hallett was the pick of the quarter finals as it needed a last hole birdie by Hallett to end the tough challenge of Howley. Hallett will now meet Andrew Meddle in the semi final who overcame David Gribbon’s challenge by 3&2.
Mick Edmunds set up a mouth watering semi final against Matthew Mahoney with a convincing 5&4 victory over the battling Peter Moir. Mahoney won by the same margin to end the challenge of outsider Alan Elliott.
In the Daily Mail Foursomes 5th Round the fine run of Andrew Meddle and Peter Moir came to an end with a 3&2 defeat at Birchwood Park.
The clubs Memorial Trophy where both Ladies and Gents enter (the ladies with 2 courtesy shots) was won by Ian Mudie’s fine nett 64. Mudie earning a 1 shot cut to 8. Ron Murray continued his recent fine form and also a 1 shot cut to 18 as he carded a nett 67 for runners up spot. Harry Smith 13 also shot a nett 67 and earned a 1 shot cut losing out to Murray for runners up spot on countback.
