Bob Hall produced the performance of the weekend as the 25 handicapper amassed a stunning score of 45 points in Friday’s Stableford competition.

Apart from winning on the day he was also rewarded with a 4 shot cut to his handicap.

There was a real tussle for 2nd spot where Len Matthews (21) had a better back nine than that of Nigel Warder (10) as both players scored 36 points and so Matthews got second spot.

Newcomer Mark Colquhoun (27) had a fine 18 holes of golf on Saturday morning to win Saturday’s Stableford with 38 points. Graeme Dale (18) also scored 38 points but Colquhoun had the better back nine. Another newcomer Dave Finch (22) who has just received his handicap scored a tidy 36 points to take 3rd place.

On Sunday Ray Beadell (16) and Dave Gribbon (8) both posted excellent scores of 39 points with Beadell prevailing on the back nine to take the honour of winner. Graham Carter (20) and Mark Duguid (22) both played very good golf to score 38 points with Carter just shading 3rd place by virtue of count back.

In the Mugs Championship Mark Duguid and Jon Watson will contest the final. Duguid had an excellent semi final win over Ron Murray while Watson accounted for Colin Dobinson in the other semi final.

Jon Watson’s brave run in the Alan Lockwood Essex County event ended with defeat at Theydon Bois against a low handicap player in the quarter final.

Mike Price and Tim Norton will contest the Junior Championship as Price overcame Graeme Dale’s challenge and Norton did likewise against Ray Beadell.
