Fine weather and an excellent turnout combined to ensure that this year’s Captain’s Day was a most memorable occasion. Over fifty members participated in the event, contributing to a spirited and competitive atmosphere both on the course and, most notably, at the 19th hole.
A variety of prizes were keenly contested, including nearest-the-pin awards on five holes, the Committee Prize, and the Veteran’s Prize. However, the day belonged to Graham Rivers, who produced the outstanding performance of the competition to claim the prestigious Captain’s Prize—an exceptional achievement, particularly as this was his first attempt.
Graham's commendable display earned him a most fitting reward: a golfing weekend at the renowned Celtic Manor Golf Club, one of the United Kingdom’s premier golfing venues. His well-deserved victory provided a fitting conclusion to a thoroughly enjoyable day.
