Echo report 23rd July: Ladies Golf Foundation Stableford
Fifteen players contested the Ladies Golf Foundation Stableford on Thursday and a fine performance by Mandy Moir (36 points) secured both first place and a 1 shot cut to her handicap. Runner-up was Pat Pace (31 points) with Barbara Hall (30) in third.
Echo report 16th July: Windfall Trophy; July Medals
The Windfall Trophy was contested by the ladies on Thursday and it produced a close result that saw 5 players finishing within 2 points of each other. Countback was required to decide the winner and it was Sue Meddle with 29 points who eventually claimed first place from runner-up Andrea Clarke (29) and Teresa Hirons (28) in third.
The July medals took place at the weekend and Friday’s event was a stroll in the woods for Terry Wise as he carded a stunning nett 62 (84-22) to beat nearest challengers Robin Fagg (84-16=68) and George Mandaracas (86-18=68) by six strokes. Wise’s efforts were also received a 3 shot for his efforts.
On Saturday, recent Captain’s Prize winner Alex Tindell continued his run of fine form to take first place with nett 66 (89-23) and receive another 1 shot cut in handicap. Consistent runner-up Mark Duguid was again second with 68 (89-20) and Mick Price (87-18=69) in third.
Andrew Nash (78-10=68) secured victory in Sunday’s medal from Steve Bucke (86-16=70) and Colin Parker (86-15=71).

Echo report 9th July: Captain's Day; Ladies Medals
Belfairs Golf Club
On a wet Captain’s Day, it was Alex Tindell who stormed clear of the other 50 competitors to take the Captain’s Prize with a stunning 45 points. Ray Beadell (40) put in a fine performance to secure the runner-up spot with Tony Hayes (39) taking third place. The best scratch score went to Kevin Gough with 27 points and Steve Bucke’s 34 points was enough to take the Committee prize.
In the mixed pairs event, Andrea Clarke & Andrew Nash were comfortable winners with 28 points.

The ladies section played in two medals last week: on Thursday, Hazel Webber took the honours with a nett 74, just winning from Linda Wellham (75) in second and third placed Joan Howroyd (77); and on Saturday, Joan Smith carded a 76 to take first place from runner-up Barbara Hall (79).
