Echo report 1st October: SINGLE BOGEY; D. CONDIE TROPHY

Sunday’s Single Bogey competition ended tied as Rod Hall and Rick Chadwick both finished at 2 up, but Hall prevailed as countback gave him victory over Chadwick and third placed Ray Jones (all sq).

In the D. Condie Trophy, 30 points was enough to secure winners spot for Susan Meddle from runner-up Christine Berry (27) and Hazel Webber (27) in third.

Echo report 24th September: FINAL’S DAY; LADIES SECRETARY'S DAY

FINAL’S DAY Sunday, 20th September 2015

Belfairs celebrated a new club champion on Sunday as Kevin Gough beat Russell Johnson 2 & 1. In a closely fought final, Gough held a 1 hole lead at the halfway stage and then had to face a determined challenge from his opponent before eventually deciding the match at the 35th hole. Andrea Clarke recorded a comfortable victory on Ladies Secretary's Day taking first place with 34 points ahead of runner-up Pat Pace (28) and Hazel Webber (27) in third.

Echo report 17th September: ROCHFORD CUP; LADIES GOLD MEDAL; LADIES FULL STABLEFORD

Trevor Innard retained the Rochford Cup on Sunday. Last year’s winner was level par for the morning back nine holes to go 6 up at halfway and although opponent Baz Patel put in a spirited afternoon performance, Innard was never likely to give up his grip on the trophy and took the match 4&3.

The ladies Gold Medal became almost match-play as two players finished several shots clear of the remainder. It was Susan Meddle (150) who eventually took first prize from Teresa Hirons (152) and third placed Pam Hayhurst (160).

It was a similar story in the Full Stableford as Lorna Steel (36) won with a 12 point margin from runner-up Gilian Lang (24) and Gloria Goldring (23) in third.

Echo report 10th September: GOLD & SILVER MEDALS; NORAH SHINN

It was a family affair on Sunday as the Mounsey’s completed a 1-2 in the Gold Medal. With the fine weather encouraging some sparkling golf, it was Trevord Innard (66) who led the way after the morning round, but it was young Nicholas (69) who finished in great style and 137 to take first place from runner-up Richard (140) and third placed Andrew Nash (142).

In the Silver Medal, Chris Robinson (69) secured first place on countback from Graham Jones (69) and Jonathan Watson (73) in third.

The ladies contested the Norah Shinn and with just 2 points separating the first three places, count back was again required to decide the outcome and eventual winner Barbara Hall (32) just taking the honours from Teresa Hirons (32) and third placed Susan Meddle (31).

Echo report 3rd September: Memorial Trophy, September Medals

Open to all club members, last week’s Memorial Trophy attracted a large field that saw Hugh Brown emerge the winner with a fine nett 66, to take spot from veteran Derek Way (69) in second and third placed Frank Howroyd (69). Barbara Hall (78) was the leading lady golfer.

Monthly medals were contested at the weekend and Friday’s event was won by Jim Shute (67) from runner-up John Trendall (69) and Harry Smith (74) in third.

Saturday’s event went to Rod Hall (72) winning on countback from Nigel Warder (72) and on Sunday, Steve Bucke carded a fine 66 to win from Harry Smith (69) and third placed Ray Beadell (70).

On Thursday, Paula Buck (75) comfortably won the ladies medal finishing 11 shots clear of nearest rival Joan Smith (84) and Pam Hayhurst in third.
