The March medals were contested at the weekend with the changeable weather conditions influencing the scoring.
On Friday, Neil Arends (95-67) just pipped runner-up Harry Smith (84-68) with Dave Watson (94-72) in third.
Jon Howley’s steady return to form continued on Saturday as he took full advantage of the benign conditions to a card an impressive nett 64 (75-11), beating off the strong challenge of Nigel Warder (78-65) and Harry Smith (81-65).
Sunday’s event was a different story as the very wet and blustery conditions contributed to high scoring, but consistent Ray Beadell (91-75) persevered to take first place and finish ahead of Baz Patel (89-77) and third placed Steve Bucke (94-77).
Finalists for the winter competitions were also decided at the weekend. In the pairs, Ray Jones & Jon Howley will meet Andrew Nash and Kevin Gough; and in the singles Ray Jones will play Chris Shawyer.
Led by captain Christine Berry, the Mary Forster team travelled to Trent Park for the all-important third match last week. The ladies overcame the inclement weather to win and they can now look forward to playing in the final at Cherwell Edge, Oxfordshire, in April.
