In addition to the Club Championship, two other finals were contested.

Belfairs Cup

A closely fought contest between Andy Nash and Ray Jones resulted in the latter finally claiming the match on the 19th hole. (One for the record books could be the 25 minutes taken to play the 18th!).

Summer Pairs

Harry Smith produced a stunning putting display in the final. Partnered by Chris Shawyer, the veterans defeated Terry Copping and Jon Stannard 4&3..

GOLD MEDAL

Mid-weeker Martin Kett produced an excellent performance to take the Gold Medal.

Recording a gross 92 off a 28 handicap, his nett 64 put him two shots clear of Nigel Warder and Terry Copping, both with 66.

SILVER MEDAL

The veterans were also successful in the Silver Medal with Alan Berry producing his usual steady round to brush aside the opposition and card a nett 71.

Hugh Brown’s 74 earned him the runner’s-up spot with Kevin Buck (75) in third place.

Belfairs Golf Club hosted this year's event and achieved a remarkable hat-trick by winning the Kindred Shield for a third consecutive year,

The annual contest between the five Kindred golf clubs, Belfairs, Boyce Hill, Rochford, Southend and Thorpe Hall,comprises teams of 4 pairs competing in a combined stableford format taking the 3 best scores from 4 

On this occasion home advantage proved decisive as Belfairs took the honours with a 4 point margin over close neighbours Southend.

A very close contest ensued with just 1 point separating the first seven places and count-back required to determine that Kevin Buck had won the Captain’s Prize..
